While in the Chinese culture, it symbolizes virginity, kindness, riches, and reputation. Each color of the hibiscus represents different meanings. Red hibiscus signify love, passion and desire, yellow hibiscus means friendship, purple hibiscus symbolizes wealth and royalty, blue hibiscus stands for fertility and serenity, pink hibiscus exemplifies rare beauty, and white hibiscus defines enlightenment.

There are people who get hibiscus designs imprinted on their skin as a mark of respect for their Hawaiian tradition or their partner’s name, as a symbol of loyalty and faithfulness. Usually men opt for hibiscus flowers combined with bold tribal designs with colors like black, blue, brown, and green. Women usually get them done almost anywhere where it looks gorgeous and subtle. Men prefer to get them done on the back, arms or legs.
